Contraindications for Colonics include:
- Cancer of the colon, rectum, or gastro-intestinal tract
- Acute abdominal pain needing medical attention
- Recent and severe gastrointestinal or rectal bleeding (not necessarily haemorrhoids)
- Congestive heart failure
- Severe cardiac disease
- Uncontrolled high blood pressure
- Epilepsy or seizures
- Recent abdominal or rectal surgery
- Intestinal perforation
- Abdominal hernia
- Recent heart attack
- Aneurysm
- Kidney insufficiency
- Severe Anemia
- Severe hemorrhoids
- Cirrhosis of the liver
- Anal fistula or fissure
- Severe constitutional weakness, very low immune response
- Pregnancy -- depending on the stage of the pregnancy
- Severe ulcerative colitis
- Advanced Crohn’s disease
- Advanced Ileitis
- Rectal or abdominal tumors

If you are taking any prescription drugs, especially laxatives and NSAIDS, please reveal what type and how often. It is very important that the therapist is aware of any and all medical abnormalities, surgeries, drugs etc so that we can properly screen you for colon hydrotherapy.
